Yarmouth

Yarmouth is really two towns in one - the fun-and-games strip of Rte. 28 to its south and the elegant conclave of sea captains' homes along Route 6A to its north.

The town is very popular for family vacations - never a lack of things for kids to do. Its colorful commercial strip is just the ticket if you want to do some shopping and keep the kids entertained with mini-golf and ice cream. Good restaurants with every kind of cuisine dot every corner. Many families rent cottages or stay at one of Yarmouth's many motels near the Bass River area, which has some fine beaches. Some of the restaurants feature entertainment in their lounges, and there are dance clubs and pubs, so nightlife is hopping in this town.

When you move up to Route 6A, you are in another world - yesterday's world of reliance on the sea, of grand homes and unique shops and galleries. You should amble along the Botanical Trails, browse for a few minutes at the unique outdoor rack at Parnassus Book Shop, and have dinner at Oliver's or a leisurely Sunday Brunch at Colonial House Inn.
